World Food Programme: Govt contributed 0.3m tonnes of wheat
In last three years, govt has contributed over 300,000 tonnes of wheat to WFP to support displaced families

In the last three years, the government of Pakistan has contributed over 300,000 tonnes of wheat to World Food Programme (WFP) to support the displaced families and help communities re-establish their lives and livelihoods, primarily farming, in areas of return. WFP spokesperson Amjad Jamal said Pakistan has emerged as the second largest donor for the WFP with donation of 150,000 metric tonnes wheat in 2013. The WFP aimed to assist 8.3 million people between 2013 and 2015 at a total cost of $535 million with projects to improve economic opportunities and promote social inclusion of people of Fata, boost community resilience in disaster-prone areas, and address nutrition and education needs in the country, he said. He said in Pakistan, WFP works in the close partnership with the government and aligns its strategies with the national priorities addressing sustainable food security and nutrition in the country also focusing on enhancing resilience to disasters, crises and external shocks.
