Food security: Minister visits farmers’ training project
Project aims to improve agricultural productivity, livelihoods for 10,000 farmers, 1,200 farm support persons

The Federal Minister for Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan visited the System Productivity Innovative Rice Training (SPIRiT) project being jointly implemented by Engro. The project is supported by the TVET Reform Support Programme, which is co-funded by the European Union, the embassies of the Netherlands, Norway, Germany and being implemented by GIZ. According to a press release the SPIRiT project aims to improve agricultural productivity, efficiency and livelihoods for 10,000 farmers and 1,200 farm support persons by training them in the areas of resource conservation, water saving and crop management. Speaking at the occasion, Bosan appreciated the SPIRiT project. “This will definitely improve the skills and expertise of the small farmers and landless farm support workers on innovative agricultural practices along with improving their yield, quality of the harvests, profitability and livelihood,” the food security minister said.
