Inspection: Reply sought from DRO on polls record
LHC orders DRO to reply to allegations that NADRA was not provided complete election record of NA 118 for inspection
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday ordered the Lahore district returning officer (DRO) to reply to allegations that the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had not been provided the complete election record of NA 118 for inspection. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah issued the directive on a petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz National Assembly Member Malik Riaz. The judge also issued a notice to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Hamid Zaman who had lost the May 2013 elections to Riaz. Riaz’s counsel said the district returning officer had not sent the record to the National Database and Registration Authority for the inspection ordered by an election tribunal. He said the complete record was needed for a fair investigation. He requested the court to order the officer to send the complete record to the National Database and Registration Authority.
