Fine imposed on Sindh chief secretary for failing to file comments on petition against amendments to local govt law

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on the chief secretary of Sindh for failing to file comments on a petition against amendments to the new local government law. Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar, who headed the bench, ordered the chief secretary to deposit the amount with the High Court Library Fund and file comments within a week. The bench was hearing a petition filed by the Jamaat-e-Islami’s Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman and Mian Muslim Pervaiz.
