Gunned down: Policeman shot dead, two others injured

The police managed to arrest the injured assailants after an exchange of fire

A police sub-inspector was killed while two others were injured in separate incidents around the city on Thursday.


According to the police, sub-inspector Amir Raza of Rescue 15, Korangi, died at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre's Neurology Ward during treatment after he was shot in head by unknown assailants near the Falak Naz Apartments, Shah Faisal Colony on Wednesday night.

SHO Shah Faisal Colony Farid Jatt said that Raza had been shot in head and the attacker managed to escape. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.


In another attack on the police, two police personnel, including a sub-inspector, were shot and injured by two men on a motorcycle. The police managed to arrest the assailants in injured condition after an exchange of fire.



According to Saddar SP Salman, the attackers opened fire at the sub-inspector, Zahoor Bhatti, and then started firing at constable Ansar, who was on guard duty at the gate of the Supreme Court Registry. Both, policemen and their attackers were injured as the police retaliated.

The police and the alleged attackers were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi, where they are currently under treatment.

The SP said that Ansar and Bhatti were in stable condition. An FIR of the incident was registered at the Mithadar Police station.
