Not associated with PM Nawaz, PML-N or police: Gullu Butt

LAHORE: Shahid alias Gullu Butt, the handlebar-mustached vandal accused of damaging public property during Model Town riots, denied being associated with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) or Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Speaking to reporters in Lahore after appearing before an anti-terrorism court (ATC), Butt - who is allegedly a PML-N activist and a local hoodlum - said that he has no relation to any political party or  police.

Video footage has shown Butt smashing cars during clashes between Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers and the police outside the Minhajul Quran International Secretariat on June 17. He broke windscreens and windows of private vehicles with a club in the presence of police officials, who did not do anything to stop him.

Addressing the media today, Butt said that he was a social welfare worker.

When a reporter said that the incident made Butt famous, the vandal replied that he does not want such publicity, adding that it was hurting the country's image.

"I am so upset mentally because of this, and therefore cannot comment on whether I want to join politics or not," Butt remarked, when questioned whether he would enter politics.

His Highness Mr. Gullo But was released by High Court. On what grounds in spite of his venture as shown by media. What other proof was needed..

In the model town incident, recorded on video by various media outlets clearly he was being supported by police and the government during the time he damaged private property. In some of the videos he is even seen hugging police.

This is impossible, even during his bail he had police protection and government cars picking him up.

All PML-N supporters on ET are completely silent when it comes to this thug gullu and are nowhere to be seen here..
