Peace committee volunteer killed in Mohmand Agency

A peace committee volunteer was killed while another was injured when unidentified militants opened fire at their check-post in Safi tehsil of Mohmand Agency on Wednesday.
According to an official of the political administration in Safi tehsil, peace committee members had established a check-post in Qandaharo to prevent militants from entering the area. In the early hours of the morning, unidentified militants attacked the check post and shot two volunteers, injuring them severely, he added.
One of the volunteers succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. He has been identified as Sajid Khan. The other volunteer was shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Ghallanai after which he was shifted to a hospital in Peshawar for further treatment.
After the incident, a search operation was launched by khasadar officials. However, no one has been arrested.
FC personnel under fire
At least, 10 Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were injured in two roadside IED blasts in Wana, South Waziristan, security and political administration officials informed The Express Tribune.
According to the official, the incidents occurred in Tora Gollain, Birmal Tehsil of Wana at 11am, officials added.
The FC convoy was on its way from Birmal to Wana when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb. According to the official, two FC personnel were injured and the car was damaged in the blast. When the other FC personnel approached the damaged vehicle, another IED planted nearby went off, injuring eight other officials.
Road accident
Three people were killed in a road accident in Kari Khaisur area of DI Khan, a local police official told The Express Tribune.
According to the police official, the tyres of a car burst in Jokh Dabri area. As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle which rammed into a tree. Three passengers died on the spot while a girl was critically wounded. The deceased were identified as Syed Imtiaz Hussain, Syed Aftab Hussain and Bushra Bibi. The injured girl was shifted to District Headquarters and Teaching Hospital for treatment.
