Much ado about nothing: Bomb hoax at Kinnaird
‘Three unruly teens handed the letter to a security guard’

Panic spread across Kinnaird College for Women on Tuesday after the college administration received a threatening letter claiming that terrorists had placed three bombs on the campus.
Police said three unruly looking teenagers approached a guard at some distance from the main gate and handed him a letter to be delivered to the college administration. The letter was received by the administration at around 1:39pm.
The letter, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, said that the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan had decided to wage jihad against the Kinnaird College because of “increasing vulgarity and anti-Islamic teaching” there. The letter said that the bombs would go off while the students were out in the grounds during lunch break or when classes ended for the day. Towards the end of the letter, the KC’s administration was warned not to take the letter lightly. The Bomb Disposal Squad, and Organised Crime, Special Branch and divisional police visited the campus and evacuated all students by 2:30pm. Civil Lines DSP Safdar Raza Kazmi said it was a hoax. “Some teenagers probably sent it as a joke.”
He said their faces had not been caught on camera because they had approached the guard at some distance from the main gate. He said the surveillance camera installed over the main gate only covered the entrance and exit areas. He said that the guard had told police that he was unable to recall their faces. “An FIR in this regard will be registered soon,” he said.
According to the KC administration, they do not let anyone enter the campus without proper checking. They said the last consignment that entered Kinnaird’s premises was three days ago.
