House inferno: Two children die from burn wounds

Toll from October 1 house fire rises to seven, with six still under treatment at Nishtar Hospital

Two children died from burn wounds on Tuesday at Nishtar Hospital Multan. They were injured when a fuel tank in their house caught fire on October 1 in Bait Chainwala area.

According to Jhok Atra police, Muhammad Saleem had stored diesel oil in a tank at his house. “The fuel tank caught fire on October 1. The fire soon engulfed the whole house. Fourteen people were injured in the fire,” police said.


The injured were admitted to the Nishtar Hospital’s burn unit. On October 2, Parveen, 29, Sajawal, 5, and Sidra, 4, died of their wounds. On October 4, two more children, Bilawal and Muhammad Ali, succumbed to their injuries.

On Tuesday, Sawera, 7, and Raisa, 9, were pronounced dead. Muhammad Saleem has appealed to the Punjab government for help in the treatment of six of his family members who are still at the hospital.
