In the dock: Rape suspects sent to jail
Police to request the court to cancel the bail of the one accused
BAHAWALPUR:
A court on Monday sent two rape suspects to jail and granted bail to a third.
According to the prosecution, Saifullah, a resident of Khanpur, Fayyaz Kanjoo and Abdul Hameed raped Aasia*, a resident of Gujranwala.
Investigation officer Hassan Iqbal told The Express Tribune that Saifullah used to visit a woman Aafia* in Gujranwala.
“Saifullah told Aafia that he had found a match for her sister, Aasia, who was a widow.
He asked them to visit Khanpur to meet the man. When they arrived in Khanpur, Saifullah took them to a house where he, Fayyaz and Hameed raped Aasia,” Iqbal said.
The women then lodged a complaint with the Khanpur police. The police arrested Saifullah, Fayyaz and Hameed.
“According to the results of the DNA test, Aasia had been raped.
We will request the court to cancel Hameed’s bail,” the police officer said.
