Total rises to 207: Another polio case confirmed in K-P

Three month old in Lakki Marwat identified as the 207th case of polio in Pakistan this year

PESHAWAR:
Another wild-type-1 polio case from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) was confirmed on Monday, raising the total number of polio cases reported this year to 207.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad has also confirmed the new polio case.


The latest polio victim was identified as three months old male child from Union Council Barham Khel of village Teri Khel, District Lakki Marwat in K-P.

With the latest confirmation, the total number of polio cases in Pakistan has risen to 207 in this year.

Out of total 207 cases, 136 cases have been reported from Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA), 43 from K-P, 19 from Sindh, three from Punjab and six from Balochistan.
