K-P CM among 250 parliamentarians yet to file details of their assets
ECP willl temporarily stop lawmakers from working if their asset details are not submitted by October 15
ISLAMABAD:
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday warned lawmakers that they will be temporarily stopped from working if they do not submit details of their assets by October 15, of which Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Asad Umar are the more prominent leaders whose asset details have not been shared.
More senior leaders who have not yet submitted their asset details include Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader and federal cabinet member Abdul Ghafoor Haidari, Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Lt Gen (Retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch.
Meanwhile, according to the latest updates released by ECP, a total of 886 lawmakers have submitted details of their assets to the commission so far.
Under the law, every member of the Senate, National Assembly and four provincial assemblies, are bound to file details of their own assets, their spouse’s assets and their children by September 30 every year.
ECP officials said the commission will write a letter to the Senate chairman and speakers of all five assemblies to stop members of their respective houses from working if they do not file details of their assets by October 15.
