LAHORE:

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday that those staging sit-ins at Islamabad’s D-Chowk had caused irreparable harm to Pakistan.

He was speaking to National Assembly Member (MNA) Marvi Memon and Senator Saleem Saifullah.

Sharif said those staging sit-ins had been exposed as enemies of Pakistan.

He said the people would never forgive them. Sharif said the sit-ins had resulted in the postponement of the Chinese president’s visit. He said project agreements for billions of dollars were expected to be signed during the visit.

He said the recent floods had caused great damage in the Punjab.  Sharif said the first phase of the distribution of compensation among those affected by the floods had been completed. He said the second phase would begin on October 20.

Sharif said the government was introducing reforms to improve the police culture. He said action would be taken against those found guilty of including rural areas in rate lists for urban taxes.
