MUZAFFARABAD:

People across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Friday took out rallies to condemn the unprovoked firing by Indian army and Border Security Forces (BSF) on the Line of Control (LoC) and working boundary.

The AJK Prime Minister Abdul Majeed, President Sardar Yaqoob Khan, ministers and top officials of the region were not present in the rally.

The protesters were chanting anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. Some of them were holding banners inscribed with the slogans like UN should take action against the ceasefire violation on LoC.

While addressing the protesters Media Adviser to AJK Prime Minister Shaukat Javid said that world community should put pressure on India to ensure the sanctity of LoC and working boundary.

Vice-Chairman International Forum for Justice and Human Rights (IFJHR) Nisar Ahmad Khan said that UN officials should visit the LoC and present the actual situation before the world that how India has been violating the ceasefire while targeting the civil population in Nakyal and Dara Sherkhan areas for the last 10 days.

“We demand the UN, European Union, human rights organisations and Organisation of Islamic Countries to put pressure on India to stop the shelling on the civilians,” said Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman Uzair Ghazali. The protesters presented a memorandum to the UNMOGIP officials.
