CJ dismisses appeal for action against students

LAHORE:

Chief Justice of Pakistan dismissed the Higher Education Commission's appeal seeking legal action against two students returning to Pakistan after completing their scholarship abroad.

The Supreme Court Chief Justice gave the verdict after HEC's request for legal action against the two students Sajid Anwar and Shireen Khan for violating an agreement made when they were awarded with scholarships.

However, the court was told that both students were arrested by FIA officials after they had boarded a Korea-bound flight.

The Supreme Court directed HEC to take action against officials who had directed FIA to make these arrests.

The court ruled that no one has the right to violate the fundamental rights of an individual.
