After Eid: 30,000 tonnes offal removed from Cantt
1.2 tonnes lime powder was used along streets, roads and garbage disposal depots to ward off diseases

Walton Cantonment Board (WCB) disposed of 30,000 tonnes of offal and waste of sacrificial animals during the three Eid holidays.
WCB Additional Executive Officer Ammara Ammar told APP on Friday that 1,100 workers hauled waste from 5am to 11pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
She said 1.2 tonnes lime powder was used along streets, roads and garbage disposal depots to ward off diseases. She said residents of the Cantonment and civil society organisations in the area had helped the WCB clean up the area.
She said 10 stalls at seven sectors of the WCB had been set up to distribute plastic bags among people so they could pack animal offal in them before dumping them.
Ammar said 64 trucks, dumpers and tractor trolleys were used in the operation.
