BANNU:

The bullet-riddled body of a policeman kidnapped a year ago was found on Thursday in Litambar, on the outskirts of Karak.

According to a Litambar police official, head constable Anjum Saeed Shah was going to work in Sarak within the jurisdiction of Bannu Cantt police station when unidentified armed men kidnapped him and shifted him to an undisclosed location.

Shah was kidnapped a year ago, said the official. He added the FIR about the kidnapping had been registered at Cantt police station. Multiple operations had been launched but were unsuccessful in finding his whereabouts.

The Litambar policeman said on Thursday, a shepherd spotted a body lying in the mountains of Litambar and informed the police. Law-enforcement officials rushed to the site and took the remains to the police station.

A national identity card found on the body revealed it was Anjum Saeed Shah, said the policeman.

Bannu DPO Iqbal Marwat and other senior police officials offered funeral prayers at Bannu Police Lines where Shah’s body had been shifted after an autopsy. Shah was later buried in his hometown.

A case has been filed and further investigation is under way.
