DERA GHAZI KHAN: Another AIDS patient was registered in Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday, taking the number of registered AIDS cases to 750.

Kamran Allah Ditta, a resident of Shah Sadarudin, was brought to Dera Ghazi Khan District Headquarter Hospital in critical condition.

His father told The Express Tribune that his son was a teacher in Rakhni, Baluchistan. “He has been sick for the past few weeks. He went to a quack for treatment. Afterwards, he started feeling even worse. We then brought him to Dera Ghazi Khan,” he said.

Clinical psychologist Dr Ali Gardaizi told The Express Tribune that the number of AIDS patients was on the rise in the area. “According to a rough estimate, there are more than 3,000 unregistered patients. About 17 AIDS patients are suffering from tuberculosis. There is a need to raise awareness among people about this deadly disease,” he said.
