SUKKUR: Shouting his rhetorical slogan ‘marsoon marsoon Sindh na desoon’, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari vowed to sacrifice his life like his grandfather and mother if needed.

Addressing a gathering of party leaders and workers at Naudero House, Larkana, on Tuesday, he said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto laid down their lives for the revival of democracy in the country and he was willing to follow suit. He also promised his workers that he would never abandon them.

Paying rich tributes to the martyrs of the 2007 Karsaz attack, he said that PPP will never forget their sacrifice. He added that the party was committed to continue their mission in letter and spirit.

Bilawal said that the rally in Karachi scheduled for October 18 will not only demonstrate the strength of the party but will also prove that PPP lives in the hearts of the people of Pakistan. He urged upon the party leaders and workers to ensure participation in the Karachi rally. Later, he distributed ration bags among 1,500 needy workers of the party.

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, lawmakers Faryal Talpur and Ayaz Soomro, Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and others were present on the occasion.

Forty years of PPP’s visionary and ideological politics has been lost during the past seven years, complained the dejected PPP leader and former senator, Safdar Abbasi, who spoke to The Express Tribune about Bilawal’s address. He said that self-accountability is the need of the hour. Otherwise, he predicted, all efforts of the party will keep hanging in mid-air.

Speaking of Bilawal’s vague ‘apology’, he said that the PPP patron-in-chief should be clear about the party’s ideology. According to Abbasi, PPP has lost its support and its vote bank as a result of deviation from the party’s ideology. The party can revive its popularity by adhering to the ideological politics of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, he said.

Talking about the upcoming rally of PPP in Karachi, he said that Benazir wanted to deliver a speech on October 18 on her return to Pakistan. However, the bomb blast at Karsaz deprived her of delivering the speech. He was of the view that Bilawal will start his political career with that undelivered speech.

The Kid is trying to give momentum to the Party which is in life support, His medicinal politics is simply outdated. Bilawal you are dealing with new breed of Pakistani now, the sooner you realize this the better chances of you Party survival.

No more bloodline politics is acceptable to the Pakistanis now! we reject Bilawal or any other politician for that matter, who has taken a short cut of heredity politics and has undermined merit! Its really strange that people like Ameen Faheem, Aitizaaz Ahsan, Yusuf Gilani, Lateef Khosa, Khursheed Shah, Qamar Zaman, Rehman Malik and many others have chosen him as their leader! Its a pity and signifies that there is no criteria of merit in the party! Disappointed
