Public health: Experts advocate responsible use of antibiotics
University of the Punjab (PU) Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (MMG) organise symposium

The one-day symposium, titled Emerging Issues of Multidrug Resistance: A Threat to the Globe, was organised in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission and Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Society.
Prof Aamir Ijaz was the chief guest. Women’s University Multan Vice Chancellor Prof Shahida Hussnain, MMG chairperson Prof Anjum Nasim Sabri, researchers and a large number of students were also present.
Prof Khalid Mehmood and Maha Tahir from the University of Lahore, Atiqa Ambreen from Gulab Devi Hospital and Saba Riaz from the MMG presented their research work on the topic.
Ijaz stressed the need for holding such seminars to be organised regularly to raise public awareness of important public health issues.
