Shot dead: Police inspector killed in Hyderabad
A police inspector was shot dead near the Honda Palace showroom within the limits of Bhitai Nagar in Hyderabad on Thursday.
According to Qasimabad SP Haider Raza, Abdul Sattar Solangi was in his car when he was attacked by three unidentified armed men. He sustained three gunshots to the chest and face, and was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Initial investigations indicated that the attack was motivated by personal enmity.
His son Ashraf Solangi, who is a journalist for a Sindhi newspaper in Karachi, told The Express Tribune that some people from the Dahani community had become enemies of his father. “My father implicated them in a robbery incident at our residence in Jamshoro district over a week ago,” he explained, adding that the family believed that they were involved in the attack.
Raza said that the slain policeman was to identify the robbers in a line-up planned for Friday.
Solangi, a resident of Naushero Feroze district, had been without a posting for a few months and was reporting at the police lines. The FIR for the incident has yet to be lodged.
