The project is aimed at integrating four devolved vertical health programmes including the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI), Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH), Family Planning and Primary Healthcare Programme and Nutrition Programme.
The programme has been designed at providing the public with primary health care services without the duplication of resources.
Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar chaired the meeting, which discussed and approved the project assisted by USAID and DFID.
Dar said the federal government would continue financing the LHW Programme till June 30, 2015 in accordance with the decision of Council of Common Interests taken on April 28, 2011.
Any additional demand of funds by the provincial governments would be examined by the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, he added.
The ECNEC also approved the proposal of the Ministry of Water and Power for establishing a 220KV Sub Station Chakdra (PC-I) at a total cost of Rs4.397 billion with FEC of Rs1.917 billion.
The project aims at installation of new 220KV substation at Chakdara along with its allied transmission lines to meet growing power demand of areas including Dir, Malkand, Mardan, Swat and Dargai under the jurisdiction of Pesco.
