Alleged impersonation: UET cancels admission of Amir Muqam’s son
UET cancelled Amir Adnan’s admission and confiscated the fee he had submitted for admission
PESHAWAR:
The University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar has cancelled the enrolment of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Amir Muqam’s son for alleged impersonation in the entrance test, said the university’s administration.
UET Admissions Assistant Director Jan Saeed told The Express Tribune on Wednesday that Amir Adnan’s admission had been cancelled because someone else sat for the university’s entrance test for Amir and cleared it, gaining him an admission.
Saeed said the test is a prerequisite for enrolment at the university. He explained that they found out about the alleged impersonation while verifying documents during the admission process.
The official further said the candidate’s pictures on his original documents did not match those on the Education Testing and Evaluation Authority’s records. Therefore, the UET cancelled Amir Adnan’s admission and confiscated the fee he had submitted for admission to the electrical power engineering department, Saeed added.
He said initially they did not know the accused was Amir Muqam’s son and made the cancellation decision based on merit.
