Telecom advancement: Another step towards faster mobile broadband
Zong announces launch of 4G LTE services.
KARACHI:
In the latest addition to the 3G and 4G faceoff in Pakistan, Zong – a Chinese telecom company – announced that it formally launched its 4G LTE services in a press conference at a local hotel in Karachi, on Saturday.
Being the only company to have secured the initial licence for the 4G spectrum in April, Zong has now announced the launch of the fastest available service (4G LTE) to the masses.
The company claims to be winning the technology race in Pakistan, especially after this launch as it becomes the only provider to deliver 3G and 4G services to consumers. Warid, which did not participate in the initial auction for the licence, plans to directly introduce 4G LTE services.
“The initial launch targets the seven major cities,” said Zong CEO Fan Yunjun. “[However,] we will expand both to other cities and towns in a bid to provide the benefits of high speed internet to the maximum number of Pakistanis.
This will help reshape the lives of the consumers and provide services that haven’t been experienced before in Pakistan.”
Yunjun added that the company has also released their own 4G-enabled handset. “The M811 is our first step to provide the customer with a complete bouquet of hardware and service provision,” he said.
