Political Standoff: ‘Sit-in speakers misleading people’

Rafique said they had denied meeting in London in the past but had admitted it now.

LAHORE:
Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique said on Friday that those staging sit-ins at Islamabad’s D-Chowk were misleading the public. He was speaking to journalists at the Punjab Food Festival. Rafique said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was leading a select delegation to the United Nations. He said Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairman Tahirul Qadri was making false allegations regarding Sharif’s visit. Rafique said the PAT and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) should reveal the identity of those funding their sit-ins. He said those who had gathered in Islamabad to press for the PM’s resignation had been compelled to resign from the National Assembly. Rafique urged PTI chairman Imran Khan and Qadri to take part in flood-relief activities. He said they should answer the questions raised by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi, former ISI chief Hamid Gul and former PTI president Javed Hashmi.  Rafique said they had denied meeting in London in the past but had admitted it now.
