Jailed tribesmen: Amn force involved in crimes, says ex-MPA

Former member of Balochistan Assembly alleges tribesmen are imprisoned in three private jails of Masoori Bugti

QUETTA:
A former member of the Balochistan Assembly, Tariq Masoori Bugti, has alleged that dozens of tribesmen are imprisoned in three private jails of Abdul Qadir Masoori Bugti, the father of the incumbent provincial home minister, Sarfraz Bugti. Addressing a news conference at the Quetta press club, Tariq Masoori accused Abdul Qadir of forming an Amn force, or pro-government militia, in the Bugti Tribal Territory. “People in the Amn force are paid Rs60,000 to Rs70,000 per month. This force is involved in incidents of kidnapping for ransom and other crimes,” he claimed. “Abdul Qadir formed this force on the pretext of restoring peace in Dera Bugti. But the truth is, he wants to maintain his influence in the area,” he added.
