MULTAN:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Thursday issued a show cause notice to its former secretary general Malik Amir Dogar for contesting elections as an independent in NA-149. PPP south Punjab president Makhdoom Shahabuddin told The Express Tribune that the show cause notice had been issued on Thursday morning.

“If he does not respond, he will be expelled from the party,” he said. He said Dogar was accused of violating party policy and disobeying direct orders of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali zardari and chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He said traditionally, the party had not accepted back members who had left after disobeying orders.

He said if Dogar wanted to return to the PPP, he would have to withdraw his nomination in favour of Javed Siddiqi, who had been nominated by PPP leadership.

He said he hoped Dogar made the right choice regarding his membership in the PPP.
