Violent deaths: Bank employee killed at his own doorstep

Police speculated the murder could be sectarian-based because Raza was Shia.

Unidentified motorcyclists shot a bank employee dead at his house in Hayatabad, Phase I late Thursday night.


According to the police, 55-year-old Ali Raza was at home when the attackers knocked on the door. As soon as Raza opened the door, the assailants opened indiscriminate fire and escaped.



The victim was rushed to Hayatabad Medical Complex where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.


Police speculated the murder could be sectarian-based because Raza was Shia.


On September 17, Ali Haider, an employee of Central Prison Peshawar was shot dead in Sarki, near Shah Qabool police station. He also belonged to the Shia sect. The police had considered the incident an act of sectarian violence.


Meanwhile, two women were found brutally killed in their house in Zaryab Colony, Dalazak Road.


The deceased were identified as 60-year-old Hazrat Bibi and her daughter-in-law, Lubna, 25. According to the police, the incident occurred when the women were alone at home.


“Their neighbour found them dead inside the house and informed the police,” said an official of the local police station.
