PPFL: Railways, WAPDA play goalless draw

Railways had secured a place in the PPFL after winning the Pakistan Football Federation League last year

KARACHI:

Pakistan Railways contained former champions Wapda in a goalless draw at the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) in Islamabad on Friday.

Railways had secured a place in the PPFL after winning the Pakistan Football Federation League last year.

The team had conceded six goals from Army in their opening match, but managed to keep Wapda at bay on Friday.

According to Wapda’s most seasoned player Arif Mehmood, his team failed to play up to the mark.

“I’m a striker and I couldn’t score,” Mehmood told The Express Tribune, adding that he had struggled to deliver due to a shoulder injury. “It wasn’t a good performance, but we have new players in the team and they will take time to improve.

“We’ll be a different side after the Eidul Azha break. We only have two more matches before that, so we’ll hang on and wait for our four players to come back from the national camp.”

Meanwhile, Muslim FC defeated Baloch FC 1-0 as Hayatullah scored the winner in the 32nd minute of the match at the KMC Football Stadium in Karachi.
