Effective policing: Law sought for humane treatment of detainees
The speakers also urged the government to introduce legislation to ensure humane treatment of detainees.
MANSEHRA:
Political meddling, job pressures, socio-economic stress, lack of modern methods of investigation and absence of state-of-the-art training are the major obstacles to people-friendly policing and torture free investigation.
This was said at an orientation session held in Police Training School Mansehra on Wednesday.
Participants agreed the lack of availability of forensic laboratories as well as training on state-of-the-art methods of interrogation cause policemen to adopt methods that violate human rights.
The speakers also urged the government to introduce legislation to ensure humane treatment of detainees.
