Cooperation: Lahore, Yantie become sister cities

The Punjab government signed two agreements with Yantie, the industrial city of Chinese province Shandong.


Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest on the occasion.

Under the agreement industrial estates and parks would be constructed in Punjab in collaboration with Yantie Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Joint seminars and conferences will be held to enhance trade activities and promoting investment in these industrial zones.

Under the second MoU, Lahore and Yantie have been declared twin cities.

Addressing the ceremony, Sharif said due to recent a visit of a Chinese delegation, new avenues of development and cooperation had been opened. He said China had been a close ally of Pakistan. He said friendship between the two countries had stood the test of time. He said the Chinese government had shown great interest in investing in Pakistan’s economy. He said China was going to sign a major investment deal but the president could not come due to the situation in Islamabad. He urged Imran Khan to end his dharna.
