Asian Games: A quick look at Pakistan’s performance

Pakistan inched forward on Wednesday in its bid to secure medals at the 2014 Asian Games as many individual athletes and teams were victorious in their respective matches.

Baseball

Pakistan baseball team beat Mongolia 1-0 in the second group match.
Women’s cricket
Pakistan women cricket team qualified for the semi-final after defeating Thailand by 51 runs.
Boxing
Pakistani boxer Nadir Hussain defeated Sygiel Phub of Bhutan 2-1 in round of 32 and qualified for the round of 16.
Tennis
Pakistan’s tennis star Aqeel Khan downed Saudi Arabia’s Ammar Al Haqbani 6-4, 6-2 in straight sets in the first round of men’s single matches.
Squash
Pakistan squash men’s team beat Korea 3-0 in their second group match while the women’s team lost 2-0 to China.
Badminton
The national badminton team beat Macau 2-0 in men’s double round of 32.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Irfan Saeed Bhatti defeated Nepal’s Ratna Jit Tamang 2-1 in the men’s singles round of 64 and Palwasha Bashir won against Maldives’ Aishath Afnan Rasheed 2-0 in the women’s singles round of 32.

Pakistan sent 8 swimmers to Asian games. 4 have not shown up for any of the events they had registered in and only 4 are swimming. Can sports desk please guide why 4 swimmers are not taking part in their events and why in fact they were sent at great expense if they were not going to even participate whereas better swimmers were not included in team?
