Joint Meeting: Pak, US to boost defence cooperation
Both sides reiterated their resolve to further enhance the defence cooperation

The Interim Progress Review (IPR) meeting between Pakistan and the US was held in the defence ministry in which both sides reiterated their resolve to further enhance the defence cooperation. The mandate of the meeting was to consider the progress of the last Defence Consultative Group (DCG) meeting held in Washington in November last year. The US delegation was led by Acting Assistant Secretary of Defence Kelly Magsamen whereas the Pakistani delegation was led by Additional Defence Secretary Rear Admiral Mukhtar Khan. The IPR meeting deliberated on the progress made on issues of bilateral interest and both sides expressed satisfaction over the pace of progress. Prior to the main session, Magsamen called on Defence Secretary Lt Gen (retd) Muhammad Alam Khattak and discussed several issues relating to defence cooperation including the post-2014 security situation in the region. Both sides agreed to hold the next round of DCG meeting on the mutually agreed date and venue.
