After a six-day closure following the murder of Islamic studies dean Dr Shakil Auj on Thursday, the University of Karachi (KU) will resume academic activities on Wednesday.
Classes have remained suspended in protest since Dr Auj was killed by unknown assailants in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. On Monday, a delegation from the university, comprising the KU vice-chancellor, registrar and office-bearers of the Karachi University Teachers Society (KUTS), had a meeting with Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan on the issue of Dr Auj’s murder. On the basis of the governor’s assurances, KUTS decided to resume regular university operations and classes during its general body meeting held at the campus on Tuesday.
