Emerging cracks: Bilawal forms committee to probe Parveen Junejo's allegations
Bilawal has instructed his party to refrain from giving any comments till the time the committee submits its report
KARACHI:
Following serious allegations leveled by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Parveen Junejo against a senior PPP leader forcing her to resing from her assembly seat, the party chairperson has directed that a high level committee should be formed to probe the accusations.
According to a statement released to the media on Tuesday, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has instructed his party people to refrain from giving any comments till the time the committee, consisting senior party leaders, submits its report.
A source claimed that Junejo's husband wanted her to resign so that he could take her place in the assembly following by-elections.
While talking to The Express Tribune, Junejo said that she was made to resign under pressure. “Since I took oath, my husband started to dictate how to utilise the MPA development fund,” she said. “He interfered in everything. Whenever, I refused he insisted that I should resign.”
She further added that PPP MNA Faryal Talpur, who is a senior leader of the party, too had forced her to resign.
“I will not give up and will come and talk about this in the next assembly session,” she said.
Aziz Junejo was not available to comment. His family members, however, have confirmed that he will be contesting in the by-elections from the area.
