Capacity building: UNODC officials visit FIA chief
The meeting discussed establishment of detention centres for the victims of human trafficking.

Representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Australian high commission on Monday met the FIA director general and discussed ways to improve cooperation among them. Cesar Guedes represented the UNODC and Damien Kilner the Australian high commission. FIA DG Ghalib Ali Bandesha thanked the UNODC for providing motorbikes, stationery, computers and walkthrough gates to the FIA. The meeting discussed establishment of detention centres for the victims of human trafficking. The first such facility will be set up in Gujranwala. FIA Punjab Director Usman Anwar said the UNODC was working for the capacity building of FIA officials. “This will help deal with trans-national crimes, including cyber, corporate and money laundering,” he said. He said digitalisation of FIA record had been started with help from the UNODC.
