Addressing a news conference at the JUI-F provincial headquarters, the party’s K-P Ameer Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan blamed the negligence of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government for the killing of Hangu naib ameer Maulana Sher Alam.
Referring to the PTI sit-ins in the federal capital, Naseeb said the provincial government was busy singing and dancing instead of concentrating on controlling law and order. He warned protests will continue till the killers of the party’s slain leader are apprehended and prosecuted.
Naseeb pointed out lawlessness was rampant in the province, yet the K-P government and its ministers were not even in Peshawar to handle the situation.
Maulana Sher Alam was shot dead in Hangu on Sunday. The district leader was in his car when unidentified armed men ambushed the vehicle near Tor Gundai. Alam died on the spot and his body was shifted to Hangu hospital. Police cordoned off the area after the incident and started collecting preliminary evidence.
After the attack, Naseeb strongly condemned the killing and called for an enquiry.
Curriculum changes
Much like the Jamaat-e-Islami, the JUI-F also expressed its reservations over the changes made to school textbooks under the previous government. The provincial ameer said apart from raising the issue on the floor of the K-P assembly, it would also hold demonstrations to press for its demands.
