Food quality: Pakistan fails to comply with standards

Pakistan’s agriculture consignments are either confiscated or rejected by foreign countries, particularly in EU

KARACHI:

Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Zakaria Usman has expressed concern over a complaint of the European Union that Pakistan’s traders of farm goods are not complying with phytosanitary protocols.

“Pakistan’s agriculture consignments, particularly of fruits and vegetables, are either confiscated or rejected by foreign countries, particularly in EU nations,” Usman said. “This is due to non-compliance with international quality standards and a lack of proper adoption of agriculture practices in the country.”
