LAHORE: An exhibition featuring 20 paintings by Sarah Mumtaz started on Monday (today) at Taseer Art Gallery. The exhibition is titled Love Is The New Black. The paintings have been made using ball-point pen on paper, ball-point on paper with sticker, ball-point on paper with gold leaf, dry point and embroidery on cloth. Speaking to The Express Tribune, Mumtaz said the paintings were inspired by the evolution of her thought process. She said life and emotions were ambiguous like the colour black. Mumtaz said she wanted her work to have an aura as dark as night. Taseer Art Gallery Proprietor said Mumtaz’s work was inspired by alienation. She said the exhibition reflected the feeling of being different and self-conscious. The exhibition will end on September 27.
