Deadly collision: 7 killed, 6 injured in road accident near Kabirwala

Truck carrying cattle, traders collided with a trailer.

Seven people were killed and six others were injured in a collision between a mini-truck and a trailer-truck on Sunday near Kabirwala in Khanewal district.


The mini-truck (MNL-4386) collided with the trailer (LS-427) coming from the opposite direction while crossing a bridge on the Kabirwala-Multan road.

Six of the mini-truck passengers Amir Sajjad, Riaz, Jamshed Sharif, Munir Ahmad, Furqan, Amanullah and Tanvir died on the spot. Six others - Kamran, Abbas, Mudassar, Ghazanfar, Riaz and Mehr Ali Jan - were injured in the collision.

Police and Rescue 1122 personnel took the injured to a hospital in Shorkot.


Later, two of the injured were shifted to Nishtar Hospital, Multan. Doctors said that there condition was still critical.

Police said the accident occurred when the driver of the mini-truck tried to overtake a donkey-cart on the bridge. “The mini-truck collided with the trailer-truck that was coming from the opposite direction. Drivers of both the vehicles were also among the dead,” police said.

They said the deceased belonged to Gujrat. “These cattle-traders had hired the mini-truck to take them to Multan for buying sacrificial animals,” police said.

The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the accident and expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in the accident. He sent his condolences to the bereaved families.

He has directed the administration to provide the best treatment facilities to the injured. The chief minister has also sought a report on the accident from the authorities concerned.
