Gemma Ward makes modelling comeback
Australian supermodel sets the runway ablaze at Milan Fashion Week
Retired Australian top model Gemma Ward made a surprise return to the catwalk at Milan Fashion Week 2015, IANS reported. After a seven-year hiatus, Ward, who once dated late actor Heath Ledger, made a modelling comeback by opening Prada’s Spring/Summer collection.
Ward also gained ground as an actor with stints in films such as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) and a small role in the Leonardo DiCaprio-starrer The Great Gatsby (2013).
Ward’s doll-like features and finesse as a model landed her campaigns for leading fashion brands, such as Dior, Dolce & Gabanna and Yves Saint Laurent when she was only a teenager. Her earnings scored her a spot in Forbes’ annual lists of top-earning models.
After her then beau Ledger’s demise in early 2008, Ward retreated from the spotlight. “I have taken a break from the media spotlight for the past few years, and it was something spurred by Heath’s death,” she said, reported the Herald Sun. Ward has been in a relationship with model David Letts, with whom she had her first child named Naia in December 2013.
