Resolving crisis: One week to reach consensus, says JI chief
Says he will contact Nawaz, Imran and Qadri on Sept 24
BAHAWALPUR:
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq has said the Political Jirga has presented its suggestions to Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri and will wait for a week for them to reach a consensus.
“We will contact them on September 24 again and will not let them be stranded in this situation,” he said addressing a public gathering on Friday.
He said that Tahirul Qadri was suggested to pursue the Model Town incident case in another province’s court under a joint investigation team, and if Shahbaz Sharif is found guilty, he will have to leave the government.
He asserted that despite obtaining majority, the government was facing problems, which indicates that Allah Almighty is not happy with the PML-N government. He advised Shahbaz Sharif to seek Allah’s forgiveness. He said if he does not do so, calamities such as dengue, floods and sectarian violence would persist.
He said none of the political parties functions democratically and the country has become a club of feudals.
“There is only one party with real democratic ethos - the JI - and we hold elections [for national representatives] every five years” he added.
“If Allah Almighty gives us the chance then I will take back the lands handed over to landlords by the English [before independence] and distribute them among the poor. I want to see the Holy Quran in hands of Pakistan’s Chief Justice rather than the English book.”
