Asian partner shows investment interest

Pakistani, Japanese business sections look for collaboration.

AICHI PREFECTURE, JAPAN:
After the successful launch of the “New Initiative” at Saitama, Embassy of Pakistan organised the second event of the series, the “Pakistan Trade Seminar” at the Aichi Prefecture.

This conference was held in collaboration with the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), Chubu Economic Federation (CEF), Aichi Prefectural Government, METI and JETRO.

Aichi Prefecture with a GDP of $340 billion, manages to surpass many developed countries, and is at the exact centre of Japan.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Japan Farukh Amil shared the “New SMEs Collaborative Model” with the audience. It would enable the Pakistani and Japanese business community to join hands for enhancing bilateral trade and investment.

In his presentation, Amil gave the example of Pakistan as a reliable trade and investment partner, with a socio-cultural bond and business relations between the two countries.

“Pakistan offers immense opportunities for SMEs of Japan to trade and invest,” said Amil.

Amil drew attention towards several areas where investment can prove fruitful. However, he stressed on areas that come under the priorities of the current government, namely energy and infrastructure sectors.


He urged the Japanese companies to visit Pakistan and keep up the momentum created by the active participation of Japanese companies in Expo 2013.

The ambassador reiterated that Pakistan has a comparative advantage because of its available young population, lower labour cost and an educated workforce.

Minister of Economy, Trade and Investment Takashi Shimokyoda informed participants that the Pakistani government has introduced investment-friendly regulations and have simplified the regulatory practices.

“Pakistan has carried out effective measures for protecting the prospective foreign investors so that they could get a congenial atmosphere to invest their capital.”

Japan External Trade Organisation’s (JETRO) Kenji Ishizuka said that JETRO would continue to support all such activities, which encouraged the business community from both countries.
