MNA Jamshed Dasti surrenders himself to police
Case was registered against the MNA and over 200 others for allegedly attacking police officials
MUZAFFARGARH:
MNA Jamshed Dasti has surrendered himself to the police along with his close aide Chaudhry Amir Karamat on Thursday, Express News reported.
Dasti surrendered himself at the Muzaffargarh city police station after a case was registered against him and over 200 others on September 16 for allegedly attacking policemen as a scuffle broke out between his people and protesters in Muzaffargarh district on September 15.
A stick-wielding mob positioned itself near Doaba dyke, blaming Dasti for reportedly saving the urban area of Muzaffargarh by breaching the dyke, while the rural areas were inundated.
In order to ease pressure at the canal, the district administration breached Doaba dyke in two places on Sunday. The protesters demanded that Muzaffargarh city be inundated and their agricultural lands saved.
Unable to justify the breach in the dyke, Dasti was attacked by the mob. However, he escaped on a motorcycle and received minor injuries.
Police was called in to disperse the protesters. However, Dasti's men attacked officials of the district administration and district police officer. DPO Muzaffargarh Rai Zameer ul Haq received minor injuries in the attack.
