Quick service: ‘Most flood victims to be rehabilitated before Eid’

Shah said Rs25,000 financial aid would be provided to each flood-affected family before Eid.

“The government wants to rehabilitate 70 per cent of the flood-affected people before Eid,” said provincial assembly member Aleem Shah on Wednesday.


Shah is also a member of the Coordination Committee for Rehabilitation of Flood-Hit People. He said a bill would be tabled in the next Punjab Assembly session for a strategy to avoid damage caused by floods.


Shah said Rs25,000 financial aid would be provided to each flood-affected family before Eid.

Shah said that the initial survey of damage caused by floods would be completed within two to three days. e said 43,000 people were directly affected from the recent floods. As many as 117 people injured and two died during the flood wave. He said 33 relief camps were set-up by the district government, including 20 in Muzaffargarh, 10 relief in Ali Pur and three in Jatoi.

He said 20,000 flood-affected people were residing in these relief camps.
