Transmission line: Neelum-Jhelum project to cost Rs17b
Minister says the cost is lower than the projected cost
ISLAMABAD:
The first phase of the Neelum-Jhelum Transmission Line will be completed by December 2015, according to Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali. Briefing the Senate Standing Committee, Ali said the transmission line will cost around Rs17 billion, which is lower than the projected cost. The minister added that the second phase of the project would start from March 2016 and assured that the government was fully aware of the power crisis in the country that would be overcome with concerted efforts. The minister also accepted that there was shortage of work force in different electric supply companies at the district level. During the meeting, when the issue of K-Electric came under discussion, Ali told the committee that several cases were pending in courts against the company.
