PTI leader Javed Hashmi is expected to contest by-polls as independent candidate
ISLAMABAD:
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Monday that by-polls in NA-149 Multan II constituency will be held on October 16. The seat fell vacant after resignation of disgruntled PTI leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi.
The ECP said that nomination papers would be received on September 22 and 23 and their scrutiny will be held on the following two days.
It said that candidates can withdraw their names by September 30 and the final list of the candidates would be published next day.
The former president of PTI, Javed Hashmi, is expected to contest by-polls as independent candidate. PML-N and PPP were unlikely to field their candidates to allow Hashmi a smooth sailing in the by-polls.
