ASWJ protests murder of Qari Javed Afridi in Jamrud
ASWJ give govt a deadline of three days to arrest the murderers.
JAMRUD:
The Khyber Agency chapter of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jammat (ASWJ) on Monday staged a protest demonstration against the killing of their leader Qari Javed Afridi.
Workers and supporters of ASWJ held up banners and placards, some blocked roads in the city as they demanded that the government arrest the culprits.
They gave the authorities a deadline of three days to arrest the murderers. If the government failed to make progress within three days, they threatened to surround the Governor House.
ASWJ leader Maulana Ahsanullah Junaidi said their people were being killed in targeted attacks but the government was watching as a silent spectator.
He warned that they will launch massive protests against the killings across the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, as well as other agencies of Fata.
A large number of students from 17 seminaries also participated in the protest. Some of them were of the view that elements against education were behind the murder clerics an scholars.
Landikotal Nazim Hakeem Shinwari, among other leaders also addressed.
