Not bothered by ICC ban, will soon return to international cricket: Saeed Ajmal
Cricketer says ban is a temporary problem, will continue to play domestic cricket
LAHORE:
Pakistan’s ace off-spinner Saeed Ajmal on Monday said that he is not worried about the ban imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) which bars him from playing international cricket.
Speaking to reporters in Lahore, the cricketer said that he will return to international cricket soon as the ban was a temporary problem, adding that he will continue to play domestic cricket.
On September 9, ICC had suspended Ajmal after tests found his bowling action illegal. Ajmal, the world’s number one bowler in one-day internationals, was suspended “with immediate effect” following tests carried out by ICC’s accredited team in Brisbane last month.
The off-spinner’s bowling action was reported by match officials during Pakistan’s seven-wicket loss to Sri Lanka in the first Test in Galle last month.
According to a press release on ICC’s website, the analysis revealed that all his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the regulations.
