Dengue fever awareness: ‘Mosquito attracted to human scent’

“Chemicals in human bodies attract mosquitoes. The extent of this varies from person to person, depending on their eating habits, genes and environment,” said experts at an anti-dengue seminar held in connection with Anti-Dengue Day on Sunday. The seminar was arranged by the UAF Department of Entomology. Addressing the seminar, UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan called for increasing community participation in the anti-dengue drive and taking precautionary measures to curtail dengue breeding. Sustainable Development Policy Institute Executive Director Abid Qaiyum Suleri and Acting Dean Dr Abdus Salam Khan, Chairman Department of Entomology Dr Muhammad Jalal Arif, Dr Shahid Majeed and Dr Fatima Mustafa also spoke on the occasion.
